Quilt Squares Galore

The last few days we have gotten a few more quilt squares.  It is so exciting when we get them - every one gets us closer to being able to start the quilt.  We are really enjoying all the different fabrics that people are choosing and the wishes are so neat.  We are just amazed at how creative people have gotten with their cards and fabric.  Thank you everyone that has been participating - we appreciate all of you and your willingness to help us out.  We know that our request is probably a bit odd but the end result is going to be so neat.  I keep thinking about the tradition and the fact that this quilt will be from all our friends and family and our children could have these quilts forever and pass them down from one generation to another.  What a special gift for both children.  Again thank you everyone!!!!

In the next few weeks I am hoping to show each wish and fabric on the blog.  That way everyone can see all the different wishes and fabrics.

Wow I cant believe it is the middle of Jan.  We have had a wonderful last couple of months.  There is something about the holidays - it is such a special time.  This year we tried really hard to enjoy every moment.   For Thanksgiving we had my husbands family over - which was so wonderful.  I love having the house full and it was nice to catch up with everyone.  Of course the day went way too fast.
We had so many plans during the month of Dec.  However Madelin got so sick for about two weeks.  Poor little thing she had a fever of 103 - 105.7 for about 9 days.  Normally when she is sick she still runs around - but this time she did not move at all.  We had to made a few emergency trips to the doctors office due to her high fever.  But it finally broke.  Then of course I got sick - which put me out for about two weeks.   We had the flu - which I don't recommend.  Ha Ha.  We had to cancel all of our entertaining the whole month of Dec.  We were all so sad about that.
My Mom and Grandma came for a visit on Christmas Eve and stayed for two weeks.  It was so nice to have family here over the holiday's.  We spend lots of time playing with all the new toys Madelin got for Christmas.
Also on Christmas Eve my childhood piano was finally done at the re finishers and was delivered.  It looks so beautiful in the house.  It has been such a treat having a piano in the house.  I find myself every time I walk by sitting down and playing.  Or should I say trying to play.  Yikes - I am not very good anymore that's for sure.  We are so thankful that Dad and Joy gave us the opportunity to have the piano - it just means the world to us.
New Years Eve we had a small get together at the house.  We are so lucky to have such great friends.  Allison, Joel and Anne came and spent the evening with us.  They are one of the families in our travel group going to China with us to adopt.  They have been a true blessing to us over the last 2 1/2 years.  Stacy my long time friend also made it over - we have been friends since fourth grade.  Then our neighbors Mike, Lynne, Ashton and Marlo came over too.  We had a wonderful dinner filled with great conversation, food and entertainment.  Mike is so talented he played the piano thru out the night - it was wonderful to have the house filled with music.   The kids had these balloons that you fill up with air and then they made a really loud noise as they flew around the house.  The kids got such a kick out of the whole thing.  And to be honest I think the adults had just as much fun.    Mike and Lynne blew up enough balloon for everyone to hold and then we had our own count down at 10:30pm instead of midnight.  Then we let the balloons all go at once.  The drink of choice that night was a Cosmo.  Stacy was the bar tender all night.  After most everyone left and Madelin was in bed - we decided to try Oprah's lemon drop martini.  It called for six lemons!!!  Does that seem like a lot?  Holly cow it sure seemed like a lot - and when we finally tasted it we knew it was a lot.  Wow - it was not the best drink I have ever had.  But it was funny to watch my 88 year old Grandma taste it.  I will have to post a picture.  She is so cute and so much fun!!!
Then on New Years Day we had some more of our friends over for appetizers and chili.  Its always good to see Lisa, Bryan, Maddie, Sara, Jenna, Aimee, Adam, Kiera and Brook.  Again it was a wonderful afternoon/evening.
Mom and Grandma left on Jan. 7th.  We really had a nice visit - and we all miss them now they are gone.  Madelin especially.  She keeps asking when they are coming back.  When I say probably not for a long time.  Then she say Oh - okay when will someone else come visit?  She loves having company just like Greg and I.
Now we are getting ready for Chinese New Year.  There are lots of events in town that we are going to try and make.  Sister States has a group of Chinese performers coming in on Jan. 29 - Feb. 5th.  They have asked us to host - but we have not decided if we will or not.  Seems like we have so much going on right now - not sure if we can fit it in.  But we will see.  Seems like they can always talk me into something.  We will be hosting another group in March - but I hate to admit it I cant remember what country they are from.  It is one that I had never heard of.  Guess I need to Google it.  Yikes!!!!
Adoption news - still very slow.  We will celebrate our two year anniversary from LID (log in date).  In some ways that does not seem possible but other ways it feels like I have been having the longest dream ever.  But we are keeping busy and trying our best to stay positive about it all.  Some days are better then others.
